Academics
Transitional kindergarten through eighth grade in one small, connected school.
TK–8 In One Place
Big Springs is a TK–8 school. Students who start in transitional kindergarten finish eighth grade in the same buildings, often with the same families around them the whole way. That continuity is one of the biggest advantages of a small school.
Instruction is grounded in California state standards in English language arts, mathematics, science, and history-social science, with physical education, technology, and hands-on learning woven through the week.
How Learning Works Here
Small Class Sizes
Teachers know every student's strengths and gaps and can adjust quickly.
Standards-Based Instruction
Aligned to California state standards across core subject areas.
Middle Grade Preparation
Eighth graders leave ready for high school coursework and expectations.
Independent Study
Families who need independent study — whether short-term or long-term — should contact the school office before beginning. Office staff will walk you through expectations and the contract process.
The Big Springs Independent Study Contract 2026–2027 addresses both short-term and long-term independent study.
